About Us

Founder

Rich has over 35 years of experience working with individuals suffering from substance use disorder, criminal thinking, family recovery, and anger management. A majority of his tenure was 22 years in the juvenile justice system treating probation and foster youth at a residential level of care in the city of South Lake Tahoe. Rich has also worked with some of the most challenging populations in the California prison system, supporting the development of the recovery programs that are available to individuals preparing for parole. In 2024, Rich retired from RJ Counseling and maintains engagement with the South Lake Tahoe community through coaching young athletes and child advocacy. 

CEO & Clinical Director

April has been working in the addiction/mental health field for over 11 years and is working on her doctoral degree to become a licensed psychologist. She has experience with a multitude of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds in the state of California including work with the South Los Angeles homeless population to the privately insured in Orange County. Her focus is supporting clients through additional specialty certifications in traumatic stress studies and Brainspotting to aid in their journey to recover. Remaining of service through local recovery groups and supporting health care education to local agencies has highlighted her commitment to local South Lake Tahoe wellness campaigns.
