Substance abuse assessments consists of two types of assessments that are used together to create an accurate review of historical and current substance abuse patterns. RJ Counseling uses both tests to ensure that there is a reduction in bias judgement or false reporting by the client.
American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Assessment
Alcohol and Drug Screening (ADS) Tool
Results of both of these assessments are then compared and reported to provide a recommendation on treatment level of care, potential substance abuse diagnosis, and need for further medical/mental health/supportive service interventions.
**Alternative substance abuse or alcohol use assessments are available upon request.
The Domestic Violence Inventory is a self report questionnaire that is scored by a computer system. The results illustrate the clients level of difficulty with patterns of control, propensity for violence, truthfulness, and co-occurring barriers like substance abuse or inability to cope with stress. Clinician will interpret results in report and provide treatment recommendations based upon questionnaire and clients disclosure of events.
The Anger Management Profile is a self report questionnaire that is scored by a computer system that identifies the clients level of difficulty with anger management, truthfulness, and contributors to anger such as substance abuse or alcohol use. Clinician will interpret results in report, provide treatment recommendations based on client interview and questionnaire results.

Biopsychosocial assessments or approaches identify information about the persons medical, mental health, and social/environmental to create a whole person approach when assessing problematic behavior. Sometimes medical or co occurring mental health issues can dramatically increase a persons need for a residential level of care in order to safely withdrawal from a substance. Other times, lack of social support to change would indicate an increased need to build new sober relationships in group treatment or the 12 step program. Using a dynamic approach helps clinicians create treatment plan goals for lasting recovery.
