Bringing TJs Toy Drive to South Lake Tahoe

Families in South Lake Tahoe are often challenged with finding stable, affordable housing. As their last resource for maintaining residence in town they are usually provided motel vouchers through homeless services or use their last dollar to keep their families housed at local motels until housing options become available. TJs legacy lives on through RJ Counseling's effort to bring the holidays to our local children and their families faced with these difficult situations.

South Lake Tahoe 2024

This will be our first year providing support to local South Lake Tahoe families that do not have permanent housing solutions. We are looking forward to collaborating with local agencies to find families that are in need. Please contact us if you are working with families in temporary housing/motels.

How it Works

Toy and Other Donations

Collection bins are placed at local businesses for collection of donated gifts including unopened toys (baby/child/teen) and gift cards (teens). Cash donations are also accepted to buy toys/gift cards for the families and/or wrapping materials.

Family Sign Ups

Our volunteers seek out motel locations throughout the community to place sign-up sheets at the front desk for families to sign up for donations. Families provide the age(s), initials of their child(ren) (for labeling gifts), and their contact information for best delivery time.

Wrapping and Delivery

Volunteers wrap and designate items to each family based on the age groups and number of children in the family. Items are hand delivered to each family at the motels prior to Christmas morning.
